Kubernetes 101

Come join us and explore how to manage applications at scale using Kubernetes. In this workshop, we'll take a sample app, build a container for it, then deploy and scale it using Kubernetes. It'll also cover aspects of a production grade service like autoscaling, monitoring, logging and troubleshooting.

Nathen Harvey

Nathen Harvey, VP of Community Development at Chef, helps the community whip up an awesome ecosystem built around the Chef platform. Nathen also spends much of his time helping people learn about the practices, processes, and technologies that support DevOps, continuous delivery, and high velocity organizations. Nathen is a co-host of the Food Fight Show, a podcast about Chef and DevOps. He is also an occasional farmer who loves eggs and actively supports #hugops.

Sanchit Bahal currently works with ThoughtWorks as Lead Technical Consultant with 14 years of industry experience in architecting and building complex enterprise applications in varied domains. He holds a wide range of experience in prominent technology platforms- .Net, Java, Ruby on Rails, Mobile(Native, Cross-Platform, Hybrid). He also brings along sound knowledge and understanding of agile principles, iterative approach and object-oriented design. He is passionate about Devops and leveraging its practice and principles to build high performing delivery teams.

Peter Chestna

As Director of Developer Engagement at Veracode, Pete provides customers with practical advice on how to successfully roll out developer-centric application security programs. Relying on more than 10 years of direct AppSec practitioner experience as both a developer and devotement leader, Pete provides information on best practices amassed from personal experience in addition to working with Veracode’s 1,000+ global customers. From his experience as both as practitioner and consultant, Pete has spoken internationally at both Security and Developer conferences on the topics of Application Security, Agile and Devops.

Sam Guckenheimer

Sam Guckenheimer is the Product Owner for the Microsoft Visual Team Services and Team Foundation server. In this Capacity he acts as the chief customer advocate, responsible for strategy of the next releases of these products, focussing on Devops, Agile and CI/CD.

He is the author of four books, most recently Journey to Cloud cadence, Visual studio Team foundation server 2012, Adopting Agile Software Practices, From Backlog to Continuous Feedback. Prior to joining Microsoft he was the Director of Product Line Strategy at Rational Software Corporation, now the Rational devision of IBM. Sam Lives in Seattle area with his wife and three children in a sustainable house they built that has been described in Houzz.

Kishore Jalleda

Kishore Jalleda is the Head of Production Engineering in Yahoo’s Publisher Product unit, which includes many popular destinations like, Yahoo Finance, Yahoo Sports, Yahoo News, Flurry etc. Previously, Kishore was the HEAD of SRE at Zynga and worked at IMVU, one of the pioneers of Continous Delivery (with co-founder Eric Ries, the author of Lean Startup).

Jalem Raj Rohit

Jalem Raj Rohit currently works as a Senior Data Scientist at Episource. His regular job includes looking at endless linux logs, grappling with distributed systems and making machines think. Authored the "Julia CookBook", which is a complete guide for doing production-level data science in the Julia programming language. Ranks amongst the top 1% of the best data scientists in the world on Kaggle.
